Happy Halloween

My favorite part of Halloween is carving pumpkins. We usually have a pumpkin carving party, but we had approximately negative time for that this year, so instead we carved them by ourselves one night.

Bo's scary Chinese dragon, and my Gator pumpkin!

We tried a few new seasonal beers (in hindsight, probably not a good idea while handling sharp objects?). My favorite was Leinenkugel's Oktoberfest and Bo's was Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat. The Punk'n beer was just okay - we probably won't be getting that one again.

After cleaning out the pumpkins (my least favorite part), I roasted pumpkin seeds. We snacked on them for about a week. They are so addicting!

And if you thought I was kidding last year, we wore the Halloween costumes from Amy again! This year we actually had a party to go to, and these were the most comfortable costumes ever. We both wore pajamas underneath and no one knew it. I didn't even bother doing my hair or makeup. It was awesome. I will admit it was rather difficult to drink my beer, but I found a straw and made it work. We didn't have to spend any money, I wasn't cold, and I didn't look like a skank (as is popular for females my age these days). Plus, everyone loved our costumes. Wins all around, thanks again Amy!!

Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!

FL/GA

The last weekend of October, we headed down to Jacksonville, FL for the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, aka the Florida vs Georgia game. This was my eleventh year in a row attending this game - crazy!  We spent all day before the game tailgating with friends and family and had an awesome time (until the game started, that is...).

Bo's cousins, Christopher and Charles, live in Jacksonville and tailgate on their boat every year. We always have such a great time with them and this year was no exception. They throw a great party!

After a few hours of tailgating we made our way to the stadium. Thankfully, the outskirts of Hurricane Sandy completely missed Jacksonville and it never rained that day - though it looked somewhat threatening all day long.

at least we had a great view of a gorgeous sunset. not exactly what we came for that day, however.

It was a terrible football game. Georgia tried really hard to give us the game and we just couldn't do anything. We lost 17-9, though it felt much worse. We also lost to them last year, making it their first set of consecutive wins against us since the 1980's. As bad as the game was, it was exponentially worse going back to St. Simons after the game and staying in a house with 10+ of our Bulldog friends from Atlanta. Ugh. As much as we love embracing other teams' traditions, I am over this particular tradition and plan to stay in Florida territory from now on. Overall, my FL/GA record is 7-4 and half of those losses occurred while staying in St. Simons!
