Chipper's Jersey Retirement

A while back, I posted about my eternal crush on Chipper Jones when we attended the final game of his career last fall. As soon as his jersey retirement date was announced, I made sure we could go to that game as well. Chipper was inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame earlier that day, and before the game they had a uniform number retirement ceremony on the field. I don't think I've ever been to a baseball game that early before - there was no way we were missing it!

#10 was everywhere you looked....

posters in the stands...

cut into the outfield grass (look closely)...

along the 3rd baseline...

...okay, enough.

he loved it.

And the grand reveal...!

Very fitting that his was the 10th Braves uniform number to be retired. After they revealed his name and number up on the stadium, Chipper gave a great speech and threw the first pitch of the game.

To cap it off, we won 3-0 against the Diamondbacks. All around, it was a great night at Turner Field. Go Braves.
